Sometimes all it takes is for one person to notice someone’s humanity and worthiness for change to occur. I believe it is important to name the parts of clients’ identities that haven’t been heard and acknowledge their need to be understood. With a new perspective of self, we can attack those daily problems and resolve them in ways that are authentic to who they are as a person.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Presbyterian College and went on to earn my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
In sessions, I use CBT and Narrative approaches to help clients identify the patterns in their lives that they want to change. I work with adolescents and adults to deconstruct dominant stories that are not their own and create stories that represent who they truly are. I also pull from IFS, Solution Focused, ACT, and other models depending on what the client needs. I enjoy working with the intersections of many identities and helping those clients to explore the complexities of each and how they impact the other. My goal is to make sure that my clients are able to show up safely in the world, living their lives free of the restrictions created by fear so that they can enjoy a life full of joy and light.
